### What is ZKBase?

ZKBase is a cryptocurrency project dedicated to developing decentralised cross-chain services between Bitcoin and Ethereum, as well as enhancing interoperability within the Bitcoin ecosystem. It utilises Zero-Knowledge (ZK) proof technology to provide scaling solutions for mainstream blockchains.

### How does ZKBase work?

ZKBase functions by leveraging Zero-Knowledge (ZK) proof technology to facilitate scalability and interoperation between different blockchain networks, specifically targeting Bitcoin and Ethereum. Through its suite of products, such as ZKSwap, ZKSquare, and ZKSea, it provides services that include Layer 2 AMM DEX operations, payments, and NFT minting. These services enable high-throughput and cost-efficient transactions, thanks to the reduced need for on-chain interactions.

### What are the potential use cases for ZKBase?

The potential use cases for ZKBase include:
- **Decentralised Cross-Chain Services:** Facilitating interoperability between Bitcoin and Ethereum, and within the Bitcoin ecosystem.
- **Scalability Solutions:** Using ZK technology to improve the scalability of mainstream blockchains.
- **NFT Marketplace:** Supporting the creation and trading of NFTs through platforms like ZKSea.
- **Layer 2 Ecosystems:** Enhancing the speed and cost-efficiency of transactions with its Layer 2 setups such as ZKSwap.
- **Programmable Bitcoin Solutions:** Developing cross-chain bridges and programmable Bitcoin Layer 2 solutions.

### What is the history of ZKBase?

ZKBase was developed by the L2 Labs Foundation, with Alex Lee as the lead developer. It consists of a team of skilled blockchain developers with extensive experience, many involved in the crypto industry since 2013. Key milestones include the implementation of ZKSpace, which encompasses products like ZKSwap, ZKSquare, and ZKSea. Significant achievements include reaching over $1 billion in Total Value Locked (TVL) and the development of programmable Bitcoin Layer 2 solutions to address liquidity and transaction speed issues.
