What is DCR?

Decred (DCR) is one of the earliest cryptocurrencies that is blockchain-based, with a hybrid-consensus mechanism with components from both Proof-of-Work and Proof-of-Stake. The PoW miners verify transactions and PoS stakers proposing and voting on network upgrades. Decred was created by copying Bitcoin's code and therefore it offers similar featuers but with varying modifications. Stakers of Decred are given 'tickets', and their owners are randomly chosen to validate the blocks proposed by miners. Once a block is verified, the block reward is split between miners, stakers and the treasury.
