EigenCloud is a decentralised cloud platform built on EigenLayer, designed to provide verifiable offchain compute, data, AI, and identity services for both Web2 and Web3 applications. At the heart of this system is the EIGEN token, which is used to stake and secure cloud services through EigenLayer’s restaking model.
Rather than operating as a traditional L1 or L2, EigenCloud transforms services like data availability, AI inference, container execution, and dispute resolution into programmable cloud primitives—EigenDA, EigenAI, EigenCompute, and EigenVerify. These services offer Ethereum-grade trust for offchain tasks, turning verifiability itself into a cloud service.
The project aims to solve the mismatch between centralised, scalable but opaque Web2 cloud infrastructure and blockchain’s transparent but limited environment by creating a crypto-secured, programmable alternative to AWS, where developers can build complex applications with embedded trust guarantees.
EigenCloud leverages Ethereum’s Proof of Stake for base-layer settlement and inherits the EigenLayer restaking model, allowing operators to secure additional offchain services (Autonomous Verifiable Services or AVSs) by restaking ETH or EIGEN.
Developers interact with EigenCloud primitives:
These services operate in tandem with Ethereum, where AVSs submit cryptographic proofs of execution, and the EIGEN token acts as the economic security layer. Misbehaving nodes can be penalized via slashing and forkability mechanisms, extending blockchain-grade guarantees to offchain tasks.
Algorithms and design elements include:
EigenCloud doesn’t rely on a traditional whitepaper but provides in-depth documentation and research articles explaining its architecture and cryptoeconomic model.
EigenCloud powers applications where verifiability and trust are essential but computation or data must happen offchain. Use cases include:
Developers can deploy LLM agents, build apps that rely on trusted container execution, or anchor massive data batches into Ethereum for security—all backed by EIGEN stake. Payment integration with protocols like x402 (from Coinbase) adds real-world usability for AI agent payments and machine-to-machine commerce.
Notable ecosystem integrations include:
EigenCloud is a product of Eigen Labs, the team behind EigenLayer, founded by Sreeram Kannan and a team of researchers and engineers focused on Ethereum restaking and scalable trust systems.
After EigenLayer introduced restaking, EigenCloud was conceived as a developer-facing platform that packages those guarantees into programmable services, effectively becoming a “crypto-native AWS.”
Key milestones include:
Rather than forks or L1 migrations, EigenCloud evolves through modular upgrades, including zk-proof integration for compute, better throughput for data availability, and more programmable forkability logic for AVS security.
As both a technology stack and a narrative, EigenCloud represents a leap from traditional restaking into the realm of verifiable cloud computing, positioning itself as the backbone for AI, data, and compute services in the crypto-native economy.
