Rook (ROOK) is a token based on the Ethereum blockchain, forming part of the KeeperDAO protocol. KeeperDAO is a decentralised autonomous organisation (DAO) that allows users to pool resources to maximise profits from on-chain activities, such as arbitrage and liquidation.
Rook operates on the Ethereum blockchain by leveraging smart contracts to execute DeFi strategies, focusing on profit-seeking activities like arbitrage and liquidations. It uses game-theoretical strategies and Priority Gas Auctions (PGAs) to prioritise KeeperDAO transactions, ensuring they are executed over competitor transactions.
Rook can be used for governance, allowing token holders to have a say in decision-making processes for protocol upgrades and other significant changes. It's also used in liquidity mining, where users provide liquidity in exchange for rewards, and in insurance coverage within DeFi platforms, offering protection against hacks and exploits.
Initially known as KeeperDAO, Rook was announced in December 2019, with the ROOK token and protocol launching in December 2020. It transitioned into a DAO by Q4 2021 and underwent a rebranding from KeeperDAO to Rook in April 2022. These developments have been accompanied by partnerships and market growth, ensuring Rook's active participation within the DeFi ecosystem.
