What is FTM?

Fantom (FTM) is a cross-chain decentralised finance ecosystem. Fantom does not use blockchain technology, it instead uses a different type of distributed ledger called a Directed Acyclic Graph (DAG). This technology allows Fantom to process transactions very efficiently. Fantom aims to solve problems associated with smart-contract platforms, specifically transaction speed. Fantom allows liquid staking, minting, lending and trading. It also aims to be developer-friendly and allows people to deploy dApps on Fantom just like on Ethereum. Fantom’s native FTM token is used for staking, governance, network fees, and as collateral in the Fantom finance ecosystem. Additionally, liquid staking allows staked FTM to be used in Fantom’s DeFi ecosystem.
